This 90-minute guided tour explores the life and legacy of Shaker leader Ann Lee through the lens of The Testament of Ann Lee, a 2025 film by Mona Fastvold. Filmed in part at the Village, Testament is a wonderful entry point to the origins, beliefs, and practices of the Shakers. During the tour, you will visit several locations used in the film– including the Brick Dwelling, Sisters’ Dairy and Weave Shop, the Round Stone Barn, and the Laundry and Machine Shop—while you learn more about the Shakers’ commitment to celibacy, communal living, equality, and more. Note: even if you haven’t seen the film, you can still enjoy the tour!
