History of our Library

The Hancock Library was established in 1887. Originally it was located in a small room in the village's Town Hall. Upon her passing in 1916, Jennie Taylor (also known as Jane A. Taylor) left a generous gift to the future generations of Hancock. Several years later her gift of land and building became the Taylor Memorial library, which is located at 155 Main Street in the village proper. ​
