In Passive Forms, I explore the relationship between my hometown of Newtown CT, and the abandoned institution of Fairfield Hills. Drawing inspiration from Hokusai’s 36 Views of Mount Fuji Series, I created this body of work to illuminate the location that the people of Newtown live their daily lives around. The campus has been collectively reimagined as an active participant in the social ecology of Newtown; It has become a wayfinding device, a projection of self and community.
