The Caterpillar’s Dilemma: What Invasive Plants Do Differently

Classes, Workshops & Talks
Adult 18+

About

Michael LaScaleia returns to Salisbury for another spirited talk on caterpillars, native ecosystems, and invasive species. Join us for a 30-minute presentation at the Library (rain or shine) and a walk to the Salisbury Land Trust's Vincent Meadow.

Michael will provide an update on his multi-year research on caterpillars and non-native plants. He'll share an analytical method called LC/MS (Liquid Chromotography/Mass Spectroscopy), explaining how LC/MS highlights the truly staggering number of chemical compounds that are present in leaves. And of course, Michael will focus on the influence of these compounds on caterpillars and the battle between native and non-native plants.
